Public Works & Infrastructure

The Public Works Department consists of several divisions working seamlessly together to deliver excellent customer service. The primary goal is to preserve the beauty of the community by maintaining Sedalia's infrastructure. This includes green space and public trees. They achieve this by keeping our streets safe for passage by completing a variety of projects. The Public Works Department also collects garbage and bulky items for disposal.

The Public Work Department's primary function is to protect and maintain the City’s infrastructure. They do this by inspecting the work performed by City employees, developers, and independent contractors. The Public Works staff also works with Community Development and other City staff. Together, they guide and support the continued growth of our community.

The Project Management staff ensures that project work adheres to the City Engineering Standards. The Project Management staff issues permits and inspects work performed in the City right-of-way. Finally, they review traffic control plans to ensure safety in the public right-of-way.

Project Management and Inspection staff provide administrative services. These services include contract management and oversight of contracted engineering projects. Their responsibilities also include treating wastewater to meet federal and state compliance standards. This includes inspecting sanitary sewer service lines and connections.
