Trash Rate Changes: Effective October 1, 2025
Beginning October 1, Sedalia residents will have more flexibility when it comes to household trash service, thanks to new cart size options and updated dumpster rental rates.
For the first time, households can choose from three different cart sizes to better fit their needs and budgets:
- Small (35 gallon): $15.00/month
- Medium (65 gallon): $19.50/month
- Large (95 gallon): $22.50
- Residents who generate more waste may also select two large carts for $26.00/month.
City officials said the new strucutre is designed to give residents more choice while ensuring trash collection remains efficient and cost-effecitve.
In addition, the CIty has released updated rates for large dumpster rentals:
- Pick Up on Demand — $41
- 2-Yard Dumpster — $41
- 4-Yard Dumpster — $82
- 6-Yard Dumpster — $123
- 10-Yard Roll-Off — $246
- 30-Yard Roll-Off — $410
These services are available for residents and businesses who need more capacity for special projects, clean-outs, or ongoing commercial use.
A senior discount remains in place: residents aged 60 and older qualify for a $2.00 month discount on their regular trash service.

Once selections are made, trash carts will be swapped out with residents’ chosen sizes in a staggered fashion between October and December, similar to the City’s Clean Sweep program.
“By offering more choices, we’re making it easier for households to match their service level to their actual needs,” Public Works Director Justin Bray, noted. “This change keeps Sedalia clean and affordable while supporting efficient waste management for the whole community.”
