City of Sedalia Statement Regarding Landfill Expansion Flyers

The City of Sedalia is aware that flyers and doorhangers have recently appeared at homes across the city regarding a proposed landfill expansion.

The City was not involved in the creation or distribution of these materials. At this time, the City has not received official communication from the parties referenced in the flyers.

City staff are proactively gathering information to better understand the scope of the alleged proposed expansion. As part of this effort, the City has contacted the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to request documentation and permit records. As of today, no permit application related to a landfill expansion has been submitted to or approved by DNR from the company referenced in the flyers.

This review is being conducted to ensure that any future decisions potentially affecting Sedalia are based on verified facts and regulatory clarity. The City will also be contacting the responsible parties listed on the flyer to gather additional information and context.
