City of Sedalia Honored to Announce North Central Sidewalk Project Groundbreaking as Part of 25th Annual Juneteenth Celebration
The City of Sedalia is honored to announce that it will hold the North Central Sidewalk Project Groundbreaking Ceremony in alignment with this year’s 25th Annual Juneteenth Celebration, hosted by the Pettis County NAACP and the Juneteenth Committee, at Hubbard Park on Saturday, June 14, 2025. We thank the NAACP for inviting us to be part of this important day for the community.
Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in the United States learned of their freedom–more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. It is a day of reflection and celebration, honoring resilience, progress, and the continuing pursuit of equality.
The City’s North Central Sidewalk Project Groundbreaking Ceremony will take place from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Shelter House #1 in Hubbard Park and at the corner of MLK Jr Drive and N. Missouri Avenue. This project is a major step toward improving accessibility and walk-ability in the North Central neighborhood, supported by a Missouri Community Revitalization Grant and City funds.
Mayor Andrew Dawson shared, “We are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate Juneteenth alongside our neighbors and to mark the beginning of this important sidewalk project. It is a meaningful day to reflect on our past while working toward a stronger, more connected community.”
Following the ceremony, community members are invited to enjoy a full day of Juneteenth festivities from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hubbard Park. The celebration will feature family-friendly activities including games, contests, a doughnut-eating competition, face painting, a bounce house, tug of war, a dunk tank, a cake walk, and more! DJ Tony Wilson “TP” will provide music throughout the day. Guests can also participate in 3-on-3 basketball and soccer tournaments for all age groups with prizes for winners, and enter a raffle for a 55″ television. Food trucks, drinks, and a variety of vendor booths will be available on site.
Vendor spaces are available for $35 on a first-come, first-served basis. For details, contact Stephen Boggs at 660-287-6854.
