Parking and Traffic Flow Information for “Ride the Train with Santa” Event on December 9, 2023

On Saturday, December 9, 2023, Santa is planning a visit in the Sedalia area. The “Ride the Train with Santa” event promises to be a lot of fun for kids of all ages. Participation has exceeded our expectations and we’re excited about the large group riding the train from Warrensburg to Sedalia on Saturday!

Participants will be arriving at the Sedalia Amtrak Station on the #318 Missouri River Runner at approximately 10:27 a.m. In the light of the number of attendees and because of a forecast for seasonally cool and rainy weather, businesses within the Lamy Building at 108 W. Pacific have graciously invited Santa, Mrs. Claus and their helper elf to bring the party inside their beautiful lobby area. Santa will visit with children until approximately 12:30 p.m.

The map below shows the City parking lots available around the Amtrak Depot, plus the Lamy Building has graciously invited participants to park in their west parking lot accessible from W. Jefferson Street. We ask that you not park directly in front of the Lamy building on W. Pacific Street as that area will be busy with children and adults crossing the street once they leave the train (if you park on W. Pacific Street, please be prepared to stay for a while for everyone’s safety).

Additionally, the red arrows on the map indicate the suggested flow of traffic for those electing to pick up their train riders from the Amtrak station and not visit with Santa inside Lamy’s. The arrowed route shows vehicles arriving from W. Main St. and taking William T. Morris Ave. north to W. Jefferson St., then turning east on W. Jefferson St. to arrive north of the parking lot at Lamy’s. This traffic pattern will assist in keeping traffic flowing as freely as possible in the area around the depot. Once you have picked up your riders, you will then be able to proceed east to N. Ohio Ave., where you may turn either north or south to continue your travels or to locate a parking lot.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, December 9, 2023 in Downtown Sedalia. We ask everyone in the area on Saturday to be especially watchful for pedestrians as many youngsters will be joining in the festivities.
