Katy Trail-Liberty Park Connect Project to Begin — Trail Construction from Katy Depot to Liberty Park Beginning Wednesday, April 29, 2026

Beginning on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the contractor Rhad A. Baker Construction LLC will begin work on approximately 5,983 feet of hard surface trail running the length of W. 3rd St. on the south side from the Katy Depot to Liberty Park. The trail is designed to accommodate both cyclists and pedestrians, with a dedicated 10-foot-wide path all being built on the city’s existing right of way. The trail will be fully ADA compliant. This project was funded in part by a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant.

The work will begin at W. 3rd St. and S. Sneed Ave. and will progress to the east. The project is estimated to be complete by the middle of October. Workers will be present along the roadway during this period. Inclement weather or equipment breakdowns could delay completion.
