Job Scope:

Food Services Crew Member employees report directly to the Kitchen Supervisor and assist with food preparation, cooking, customer service, and sanitation tasks. Work involves short-order cooking (grill, fryer, pizza, sandwiches), food and beverage service, cash handling, and cleaning responsibilities. Employee must comply with all health and safety standards, including ServeSafe practices, and be available to work mornings, daytime, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on facility needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification.   • Greet customers, take food and beverage orders at the counter, and operate the register/POS system.
  • Prepare, cook, and serve menu items including grill, fryer, and snack-bar style foods.
  • Deliver food orders to customer tables, party rooms, or bowling lanes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, food prep areas, and serving counters.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
  • Restock supplies, condiments, and food items to ensure readiness during shifts.
  • Assist with receiving and stocking deliveries.
  • Follow all health, safety, and food handling guidelines.
  • Assist in setup and support of food service for parties, rentals, or special events.
  • Provide friendly customer service and respond to guest requests or concerns.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the Kitchen Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must pass a Background Criminal Investigation check.
  • Must comply with state and federal labor laws, including permitted tasks for minors (age 16+).
  • Must pass and keep current ServeSafe food handling certificate.
  • Must be willing and available to work early morning, morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as scheduled by immediate supervisor, not to exceed 1,500 hours per year.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Prior experience in food service, concessions, or customer service preferred but not required.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to operate grills, fryers, ovens, and related food service equipment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Commercial kitchen equipment including grills, fryers, ovens, microwaves, and toasters.
  • Food preparation tools such as knives, cutting boards, mixers, and utensils.
  • Dishwashing equipment, sinks, and sanitizing stations.
  • Cash register/point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Cleaning equipment including mops, brooms, buckets, and chemical cleaning supplies.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and aprons.

Guidelines:

Work is performed in accordance with departmental food service procedures, health department codes, and ServeSafe guidelines. Employees are expected to follow established recipes, portion control, and cash handling policies.

Complexity:

The work consists of routine food service tasks performed in a busy, customer-focused environment. Employees must balance food preparation, customer interaction, and cleaning duties while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Principal Working Relationships:

  • Internal: Kitchen Supervisor, Bowling Alley Manager, Operations Coordinator, other Memory Lanes staff, and other Sedalia Parks & Recreation staff.
  • External: General public, rental clients, and vendors as needed.

Purpose of Contacts:

Contacts are made to take food orders, deliver service, assist customers, and coordinate with co-workers to ensure efficient kitchen and food service operations.

Physical Demands:

Work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Duties involve operating kitchen equipment, carrying food trays, and cleaning.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a commercial kitchen and food service environment. Employees are regular exposed to heat, noise, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment. Proper use of protective gear (gloves, aprons, etc.) is mandatory. The position may require work during peak, high-volume periods and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Work is typically performed inside the Memory Lanes kitchen and food service areas, including the serving counters, prep stations, and dishwashing area. Duties may also extend to the bowling lanes, party rooms, or open lobby areas when delivering food or supporting events. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves.
