Firefighter Training

Are you interested in getting started in the fire service? Are you interested in furthering your knowledge?

If so, The Sedalia Fire Department offers Firefighter I & II Courses which are recognized by the State of Missouri. Upon successful completion of these courses, students will be eligible to test for Missouri State Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazmat Awareness, and Hazmat Operations certifications. These certifications are the minimum required by most career fire departments before you can apply for employment.

Formatted With You In Mind

Our program is designed with the working person in mind. As such, it operates every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM and various Saturdays from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The program runs from September through March. Note: our classes are held in the evening and on Saturdays only. Many other programs operate Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. These programs allow you to complete the course faster. However, it is extremely difficult to secure time off or maintain full-time employment while attending these courses.

Highly Competitive Tuition

We have made our program extremely affordable, with tuition costs starting as low as $1500. This includes textbooks, skills books, a student manual, class polo, access to self-contained breathing apparatus, and all instruction. Students are required to provide their own turnout gear. If they do not have access to this gear, it may be rented through a third party at an approximate cost of $700**. The student must also provide safety glasses, black shoes or boots, and EMT/BDU style navy pants.

Community Minded

We have tailored this training to maximize accessibility. The fire service, and Sedalia, need well-trained men and women to become the next generation of public servants. Note: completion of this course does not ensure employment with the Sedalia Fire Department or any other fire service provider. Our goal is to prepare future difference-makers a chance to serve as honorably as their predecessors.

Veterans

We are approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education. This qualifies our program for use of your VA benefits.
