Progress Update on Historic Bichsel Clock Installation in Downtown Sedalia
The City of Sedalia is pleased to share an update on the long-anticipated return of the historic Bichsel Clock to Downtown Sedalia.
Electrical contractors began work this week on conduit installation along South Ohio Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets. By Thursday evening (June 26), the clock base is expected to be set and in place. Barring any unforeseen delays, both the clockmaker and contractor plan to install the clock itself on Monday, June 30, with electrical power being connected on Tuesday, July 1.
This installation marks a major milestone in the City’s efforts to honor and preserve Sedalia’s rich history. Originally erected in 1882, the Bichsel Clock has long been recognized as a symbol of the city’s heritage and pride. Its return to downtown represents not only the restoration of a beloved landmark, but also a renewed commitment to celebrating Sedalia’s unique identity.
The City is also in the early planning stages of a dedication ceremony to commemorate the clock’s installation and the collaborative effort that made it possible. Further details about the event will be announced in the coming weeks.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to watch for temporary sidewalk and lane closures in the area as final installation work continues. We thank the public for their patience and enthusiasm during this exciting time.
