Quarter Pound of Meth Found in Hidden Car Compartment During Sedalia Drug Bust

A major drug bust unfolded in Sedalia on June 18, 2025, as detectives with the Sedalia Police Department and the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force executed search warrants at a home on the city’s east side, uncovering a significant stash of methamphetamine hidden in a secret vehicle compartment.

Officers served the warrants at 1701 East 4th Street and on a vehicle linked to the residence as part of an active investigation into local meth trafficking. What they found was a concealed compartment inside the vehicle, holding more than a quarter pound of suspected methamphetamine.

At the scene, 47-year-old Joseph Edwards of Sedalia was arrested. Authorities are seeking formal charges that include:

  • First-degree trafficking of methamphetamine
  • Delivery of a controlled substance
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

This bust marks another significant step in the department’s efforts to disrupt drug distribution networks within the community.

As always, charges are allegations, and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
