2007 Santa Campaign raises nearly $16,000

(SEDALIA, MISSOURI) : The annual Mayor's Community Santa Campaign, a holiday tradition in Sedalia, took in nearly $16,000 in cash and merchandise donations to distribute to needy families this year.  Families that signed up for the program were eligible to receive toys, bikes, gift certificates and other items to help them through the holiday season.

The Sedalia Police Department, throughout the year, collects discarded and abandoned bicycles that are then repaired by members of the Sedalia Fire Department and distributed as a part of the Santa Campaign.

Campaign headquarters opened today for families that had registered to come and receive their items.  Volunteers had the appropriate items bagged, tagged and ready for quick pick-up and even Santa was on-hand to receive last-minute Christmas list items from the kids.

Bob Milner, Campaign Chairman, coordinated a team of volunteers to assist more than 500 local families.  The all-volunteer staff ensures that all donations go directly to benefit families that are in need.
