Missouri Department of Natural Resources Revised Water Primacy Fee Structure
Because of the revised primacy fee structure received from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, City of Sedalia water customers will see an increase in their bill received in April, 2022.
The primacy fee is reflected one time per year, on your bill in April, as "Primacy".
The primacy fee, which was signed into Missouri law in July 1992, is a user fee paid by customers of the state's public water supply systems. The annual fee supports the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' efforts to ensure Missourians are provided safe drinking water. The restructured fees are based on the size of the customer's connection.
The City of Sedalia forwards the fees to the Missouri Department of Revenue to fund the Missouri Public Drinking Water Program, no portion of this fee is retained by the City. We are simply required to collect the fee on behalf of the state of Missouri.
Given the effective date of the change the increase will be prorated for 2022, customers will only see a portion of the fee increase this year and the full revised fee amount will be collected in April 2023. The following is a summary of the previous amount charged, the revised fee amount for the April 2022, and the full revised fee amount that will be collected in April 2023. Click link below for chart:
