11/4/2020 - Fire Hydrant Testing Starting November 4, 2020 Through November 18, 2020
Beginning Wed., Nov. 4, 2020 and continuing through Wed., Nov. 18, 2020, the City of Sedalia Public Works Department through their engineering consultant, Burns and McDonnell, will be performing hydrant testing and flow monitoring as part of the City’s Water Systems Planning activities. Testing activities will be performed throughout the city. During these activities water system customers may experience discolored water near where tests are being conducted. All water in the mains is treated, disinfected water and is safe for use. While the discolored water is aesthetically unpleasant it meets all state and federal drinking water standards.
If you experience discolored water turn on the cold water tap in your bathtub or another fixture without an aerator and let the water run until it clears. Avoid using your washing machine until you have clear tap water. With workers and equipment in and near roadways as they conduct these hydrant and flow monitoring activities, we ask that you please drive carefully around the area where workers and equipment are present. If you have any questions about these activities, please call the City of Sedalia, Public Works Department at 827-3000 ext. 1166.
We apologize for any inconvenience these lane restrictions may cause as we work to improve water service in these areas. Please note that these projects are weather and equipment dependent and may be delayed due to rain or equipment breakdowns.
