10/7/2020 - City of Sedalia Tree Re-Inventory
The City of Sedalia was recently notified it has received a $10,000 TRIM grant through the Missouri Department of Conservation for completion of a partial tree re-inventory along certain street right-of-ways on public property and within City parks. The City of Sedalia’s selected contractor, will begin data collection around mid-December for tree data from two areas having the approximate boundaries of 11TH St. to 16th St. between S. Quincy Ave. and S. Lamine Ave.; U.S. Highway 50 between S. Lamine Ave. to the eastern City Limits; and City Parks including: Housel Park, Liberty Park and Vermont Park. These areas include approximately 1,950 public trees. The entire tree re-inventory data collection process should be completed by February 28, 2021. Data collected will include, but is not limited to, location, species, tree size, stems, condition, location rating, primary maintenance needs, secondary maintenance needs, risk assessment, risk rating, and observations.This information assists the City in addressing tree maintenance needs and removal of dead or decaying trees.
Additionally, residents will be receiving a Tree Care Calendar containing information about the care of trees throughout the year as well as specific information about the Emerald Ash Borer and Oak Wilt Disease. The Tree Care Calendar will be included in residents’ October Utility Billing.
